Cameron had his art show opening Friday night at a local coffee shop.
Sorry the photo is a little dark - I didn't edit it yet.... I thought he looked rather cute & you can see his kissing giraffes photo behind him.
A little about the event.
And another photo to share -
The teachers are still on strike.
I just got a recorded phone call from the principal asking up to send our kids to school because they will begin using the practice STAR testing booklets. I don't care about the state standardized testing. I'm no fan of no kid let untested... so I don't care about the end results. But I know a lot is riding on these test results. This is a bad situation just getting worse.
Cameron asked me to make him a quilt. I agreed but had him design the whole thing. He calculated how much fabric I need and the quilt layout. I think he enjoyed it. It was a great math life skill lesson.
I think I will draw Mari's and have her design hers too. I wonder how she will do.
I'm off to cut more black flannel squares.
The baby blankie all done.
I'm going to start one for Marionna soon.
The teachers are still on strike.
The district is seeking an injunction to send the teachers back to work. Thank God. I'm hoping they can get back to school Monday. They've been out of school since the 4th!
Last night I was driving back from swim & the guy next to me hit a wild turkey - the bird deflected off his bumper & hit the side of my van with a big thump! There were feathers everywhere. The poor bird was flopping about the road. I really felt bad for that ol' bird. Thankfully, he didn't leave any guts on the van. Cam was out of the van & quick to inspect once we got home. There was just a feather in the windshield wiper groove...
Hmmm, I think I'll have some turkey mignon & baked potatoes for dinner tonight.
I've been so busy at work --- I had a ton of meeting this week & I blew them all off. I just needed some me time after work. Easter (& Mother's Day is worse) is the craziest time of year for me at work. Everyone uses every piece of their inventory - no robbing Peter to pay Paul. And everyone needs special colored napkins. I sent just about 7000 colored napkins out the door this week.... and since we have new management in the plat at work I had to be back there supervising all the little things... things that sucked the life out of me. I did not want to be counting and sorting thousands of napkins. I really didn't. I hope my crazy week means this weekend everything will be calm - no emergency "I NEED NAPKINS" calls.
To top off the napkin frenzy - the teachers are on strike in our district. No school for the kids Thurs & Fri. I'm lucky I have a wonderful babysitter. I can't complain too much - I wasn't the one burdened by it. Just my checkbook. I sure hope that the teachers & district can work it out over spring break. I can't send Cameron back to school to a substitute even if I wanted too. He wouldn't do well with that sort of 3 ring circus.
On a positive note -The bank gave me back my money that the thief stole from my savings account back in Feb. Just in time to pay my CA taxes. :) Whew. It took a complete 2 months.
Cameron's staying the night at my mom's tonight and Mari's staying at Jose's mom's. We are kid free tonight. (ohhlalalala!)
Last, I will share this silly picture with you. I know the background sucks. I hate snapshots from around the house. But this one is too good not to share.
Chloe in disguise.
I was super sick Thurs. night & Friday. Luckily I woke up feeling much better Saturday. We didn't do much... pick up family photos. You can see them HERE if you would like.
Lounged around & scrapbooked some today - I managed 4 layouts.
Then we spent some time at the dog park.
I don't know who had more fun -
Before we were able to leave for the park we had to wait for the paramedics to removed a passed out (heroine OD & maybe some unlabeled liquid in a mystery bottle) man from a car in front of my house.
I was all packed ready to go to the park; camera in hand. The other neighbors must have thought I was coming out to capture some photos! Sorry - no photos guys. No Ghetto 911 action tonight.
Yesterday the paramedics hauled my neighbor next door out- that wasn't so interesting; just kidney stones.
